Pilates After completing her degree in Sociology (2:1) at Sussex University Gemma moved on to teach fitness and studio classes at health clubs in Brighton (1996). Having trained as a dancer until the age of eighteen Gemma's love of movement and interest in posture led her to train as a pilates teacher with Stott Pilates in 1999. Stott is a Canadian company with a fantastic reputation for thorough and comprehensive training. They are regarded as one of the leaders in the pilates field. Since her initial training, Gemma has completed further training with Stott- Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrells. She has also completed her Injuries and Special Populations Course which has helped with her work at Sundial House over the last 5 years. Gemma continues to attend workshops and conventions to increase her knowledge. Gemma currently teaches matwork classes at Sundial Clinic on Wednesday evenings. The referral system that has been set up between the chiropractors at Sundial and Gemma has led to fantastic results with clients, freeing them from pain. Gemma has a strong reputation in the area and is known for her individual style of teaching offering classes that are both educational, safe but also easy going and fun. In 2006 Gemma wrote her first book called Pilates on the Ball. She has also appeared in the Marks and Spencer Swiss Ball and Pilates books. |
